Recently, against the backdrop of news about the freezing of some American government programs, in particular grant funding, the term "grant-eaters" has reappeared. This concept is used with a negative connotation, which often does not correspond to reality.
Yes, this expression appeared for a reason. But it is quite logical that the reputation of several organizations, whose activities were probably not transparent, should not affect the general opinion of all organizations that receive or help obtain grant funding.
"In essence, grants are a tool for raising funds for important social projects: supporting education, culture, ecology, healthcare, helping communities, and developing entrepreneurship. Thanks to these funds, public organizations implement projects that change people's lives for the better," explains Oleksandr Milto, head of the "Territorial Development Agency."
In our country, grant projects have already helped develop educational programs, support small businesses, agricultural production, develop youth, and introduce innovations in communities.
Discrediting grant activities harms not only organizations, but also those people for whom useful initiatives are implemented. We must appreciate every opportunity to attract resources that help our country become stronger and more successful.
